Gmail is one of the email accounts Filed connects to. Once it is linked, you can ask Filed Chat to pull up recent client emails and summarize the ones that need attention, or set up a Routine that checks your inbox on a schedule. Client requests, deadlines, and open questions stop hiding in your mailbox.
The connection works with Gmail and Google Workspace accounts and uses a Google App Password, so your regular Google password is never entered into Filed. Filed reads only what the connected account can see. When Write access is enabled, it can also send approved emails from your account, and you review those before they go out.
How it works
- Search and list messages across your Gmail labels and folders
- Read full emails, including recipients and attachment details
- Send approved emails from your account when Write access is on
- Automate inbox checks with scheduled Routines

The questions firms ask us
No. The connection uses a 16-character Google App Password that you generate from your Google Account security settings. Your regular password is never entered into Filed.
Only when Write access is enabled on the connection, and the workflow is built for supervised follow-up. You review changes before you finalize them.
Yes, as long as 2-Step Verification is enabled and your Workspace administrator allows IMAP access. If the connection fails, ask your admin to confirm IMAP is enabled for your account.
