Every client's tax documents, organized and checked.
Filed builds a tax binder for each client as documents arrive. Every file is named, sorted in return order and checked against the others. Your team marks up, ties out and signs off in the same place, so the binder doubles as the workpapers.
Named by payer and account, filed in return order.
Mismatches flagged before anyone starts the return.
Findings and picked figures link back to the page they came from.
Every document lands in the right folder.
Clients send files in any order, with any name. Filed reads each one, names it by payer and account number and files it under its form, in return order. Moving a document is a drag. Renaming it is one click on Edit.
- Named for you. A scan called scan_0412.pdf becomes EASTVIEW TECHNOLOGIES - 123456 - 1p, filed under W-2.
- Filed in return order. Income, deductions and payments the way the return is built, with missing documents listed at the top.
- Drag to move. Drop a document on any folder and it moves there.
- Rename in a click. Choose Edit to change a document’s name, type, tax year or category.
Problems flagged before review, not during it.
As documents arrive, Filed checks them against each other and lists what it finds under Observations, right in the binder. Each one explains itself, with the math and a link to the figure.
Red flags are the calls that need you.
Blue flags are worth knowing, not blocking.
Withheld, expected and the difference.
Every finding links back to its source.
Filed shows where its conclusions come from. Missing information is built from last year’s records, and an item can link straight to the form that raised it. Click the link and last year’s return opens on the right page.
- Reasons you can check. A missing document comes with the reason it is expected, like last year’s cancellation of debt on Schedule 1.
- One click to the page. The link opens last year’s return on the page the item came from.
- Observations too. View in source opens an observation on the figure it is about.
Sign off as you go.
Tick each document as you review it and Filed records the sign-off level. Flags and comments stay on the figure, so the next reviewer picks up where the last one stopped.
Set the levels your firm uses and see each one recorded.
Questions and answers live next to the number, not in email.
Every tick, flag and sign-off carries a name and a time.
The workpaper tools your team already expects.
Most annotations are one key away
Tick marks, crosses, highlights, flags, sticky notes, textboxes, arrows, stamps and cross-references all live in the annotations panel. Most have a shortcut, so reviewers keep their eyes on the page.
Pick figures off the page or type them in
Click Pick from page and draw a box around any number. It lands on the calculator tape with its source attached, so there is nothing to re-key. For a figure that isn't on the page, type it on the keypad and give the line a label. Both add up on the same tape, and every picked line links back to its box.
- Pick from page. Draw a box around a figure and the tape reads it for you.
- Or type it on the keypad. Key in any figure and give the line its own label.
- Back to the source. Click the link on a picked line and its box lights up on the page.
Ask Filed inside the binder
Chat with Filed’s AI without leaving the client. Ask “Does box 4 match 6.2% of wages?” and get the answer from the client’s documents.
Prior years on hand
Last year's documents sit under References, so year-over-year checks take one click.
Questions about Filed Binder.
Filed Binder is a digital tax binder for accounting firms. As a client's documents arrive, Filed reads each one, names it, files it in return order and checks it against the client's other documents and last year's return. Your team reviews, marks up and signs off inside the binder, so the binder is also the workpaper file.
Clients can send files in any order and with any name. Filed reads each one, names it by payer and account number and files it under its form, so a scan called scan_0412.pdf becomes EASTVIEW TECHNOLOGIES - 123456 - 1p under W-2. The binder follows the order of the return (income, deductions, then payments) with missing documents listed at the top. Moving a document is a drag, and renaming it takes one click on Edit.
Filed checks each document against the client's other documents and last year's records, then lists what it finds under Observations in the binder. Red flags need a decision from your team. Blue flags are for information. Each observation shows its math, such as social security tax withheld against the amount expected from wages, and links to the figure on the page.
Filed reads last year's return, or a backup from your tax software, to work out which forms, payers and accounts to expect this year. That includes W-2s, the interest and dividend statements behind Schedule B, business records for Schedule C, and rental and K-1 income on Schedule E. It then compares that list with the documents in this year's binder. Anything expected that hasn't arrived is listed as missing, with the reason. Reviewers can mark an item as not needed or request it from the client, and your firm's own rules apply too, so the list only shows what is still open.
Yes. Reviewers tick, cross, highlight, flag and add sticky notes, textboxes and cross-references, most with a single key. They can pick figures off a document onto a calculator tape that keeps a link to the source, leave questions on the figure itself and sign off each document at your firm's review levels. Every tick, flag and sign-off is recorded with a name and a time.
A portal or file store keeps documents where clients put them. Filed Binder reads them. It names and sorts every file, checks it against the rest of the client's documents and last year's return, and gives reviewers the tools to work the file and sign off.
Filed works with CCH Axcess, UltraTax, Lacerte, Drake and ProConnect, so your team keeps the software it already uses. Filed reads documents for 1040, 1065 (with K-1s), 1120, 1120-S, 1041 and 990 returns.
